The Lounge Takes A Long Rest

Having lived in New York City my whole life I've seen this scene many times; a neighborhood of great distinction is renovated and done completely over to the point where it is no longer recognizable. I've seen this happen on the Lower East Side and in Williamsburg where I just moved from.

Seeing how 'Brooklyn' has become the hot commodity, I'm fearful of what will happen precious Crown Heights.

I'm from the Upper West Side so believe me, I know what you're talking about! I've lived in Astoria for ten years now, and I have to say it's barely budged an inch. It's boring as hell and basically charmless but still, it's home.

The pace at which New York neighborhoods change astounds and saddens me. Seems more like a rich man's playground every day. It's chasing me away. I want out. It makes me too sad.

I think Crown heights will be to slow change...many people are under the impression that's it's either dangerous (all those riots!) or religiously exclusive.

Good luck there--it sure is a charmer, that neighborhood.

Yeah, I get it...The Lower East Side and East Village have been so dramatically transformed I sometimes feel like a stranger when I walk these streets I once loved calling home.

New York is indeed a rich person's playground. And these yuppies, or whatever they're called these days, leave a blur of homogenization wherever they settle.

The bodega on the corner recently shut down. That aches my heart. The person who does those "I love you" tags left one on the shut gate...

I live right down the stret from the Kingston Lounge. When I moved back to New York 4 Years ago that's when I first noticed the Kingston Lounge. It was then that i realized that I wanted to own my own night club and the Kingston Lounge looked like it used to be a nice spot back in it's hay day. I grew up in Brooklyn and I have never heard of the Kingston Lounge my aunts and my mother used to go to Club Trinity and sometimes they would travel all the way to Queens, but they never mentioned the Kingston Lounge. So I said that when I get the right amount of government funding to open my business and that business would be my own night club because I have a passion for music.
